Post Launch Update


Just a quick first update. Over the weekend, I posted the initial draft rules of Wyrd! Already getting some good feedback on r/osr and in the NSR Discord. I updated the description of the itch page to include planned updates for this project. First off I will be continuing to playtest, gather feedback, and incorporate any edits.

Playtesting focus

  • Thusfar I have tested Character Creation and the travel and dungeon procedures, and location generators on The Crawl.
  • Next I plan to test the combat rules, reviewing initiative, armor vs weapon usage dice, and roll-low crit-high conundrum.
  • Several folks pointed out that it might be confusing to have a roll-under system, with critical hits being 20. The suggestion has been to make 1s always succeed and 20s always fail.
  • I still feel like 20 makes sense (1. because it follows D&D standards, and 2. you are increasing your ability to be maximum at 20, so if you frame it that way, high is still better. )
  • Want to also pressure test the XP and advancement system. Perhaps I need an additional way for PCs to earn advances, either through individual milestones or earning treasure, for example.
